Our GreenVET Database

The GreenVET Database is an integral component of the GreenVET Pathway project, our European initiative aimed at integrating sustainability into Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions. This collaborative platform serves as a repository of resources designed to inspire and facilitate the green transformation of VET schools across Europe.

The primary objective of the GreenVET Database is to support VET professionals—teachers, administrators, and management—in embedding sustainability into their institutions' values, operations, and curricula. By providing access to a curated collection of resources, the database empowers VET actors to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and contribute to the broader green transition.

The database encompasses a diverse array of resources valuable to individuals working in VET schools with an interest in sustainability. These resources include:

  • Teaching Materials: Subject-specific educational content tailored to various professional sectors, aiding educators in integrating sustainability concepts into their lessons.
  • Policy Papers: Documents outlining European Union initiatives and policies related to sustainable development, providing strategic insights for institutional alignment.
  • Media Articles: Newspaper articles discussing topics like Just Transition, offering contextual understanding of sustainability challenges and solutions.
  • Multimedia Content: Podcasts and videos on Education for Sustainable Development, delivering engaging and accessible information on best practices and innovative approaches.

Each resource is accompanied by a brief description from a peer, explaining its relevance and potential application, fostering a community-driven approach to resource sharing.

A distinctive feature of the GreenVET Database is its collaborative nature. While initiated by project partners and a community of practice, the platform actively encourages contributions from all VET stakeholders. This inclusive approach ensures the database remains dynamic and reflective of diverse experiences and insights. To contribute, individuals are invited to register on the platform, a process designed to be straightforward and user-friendly.

The database is part of the broader GreenVET Framework, which familiarizes VET teachers and administrators with the intersections of vocational education and the green transition. The framework provides a compact overview of the European Green Deal, the Whole Institution Approach, Education for Sustainable Development, and the GreenComp Framework. By integrating these elements, the framework aims to answer questions on how VET can support the green transition and benefit students.

The GreenVET Database is designed to be user-centric, allowing easy navigation and exploration of resources. Users can search for materials based on professional groups, languages, types, and keywords, ensuring tailored access to relevant information. Additionally, the platform features a "Resource of the Month" section, highlighting exemplary contributions and promoting continuous engagement.

The GreenVET Database stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in advancing sustainability within vocational education. By serving as a centralized hub for resources and fostering a community of shared learning, it plays a pivotal role in guiding VET institutions toward a sustainable future.
