Ziel ist es, Kindern und Jugendlichen Natur- und Umweltthemen praxisnah näherzubringen — durch Beobachtung, Experimente und Projekte zu Biodiversität, Pflanzenwelt, Boden und Ökosystemen. Das Projekt fördert außerdem sozial-emotionale Kompetenzen, Teamarbeit und Verantwortungsbewusstsein durch gemeinschaftliches Lernen im Freien.

What is the resource about? (in English)

The “Green Classroom” project is an educational initiative that uses an outdoor natural learning space as an extended classroom. Its goal is to bring nature and environmental topics to children and young people through hands-on experiences — including observation, experiments and projects on biodiversity, plant life, soil and ecosystems. The project also fosters social–emotional skills, teamwork and responsibility through collaborative outdoor learning.

Why is the resource useful for VET actors?

Diese Ressource ist für VET-Akteure relevant, weil sie ein konkretes Beispiel für erfahrungsbasiertes Lernen im Freien liefert, das praktisch in Ausbildungsprogramme zu Umweltmanagement, Biologie, Landschaftspflege oder Nachhaltigkeitsbildung eingebettet werden kann. Durch die Arbeit im Grünen werden nicht nur fachliche Kenntnisse zu Ökosystemen, Artenvielfalt und natürlicher Ressourcennutzung vermittelt, sondern auch überfachliche Kompetenzen wie Problemlösung, Teamarbeit und Verantwortungsbewusstsein gestärkt. Gleichzeitig zeigt das Projekt, wie Lehr-Lern-Settings außerhalb traditioneller Klassenzimmer genutzt werden können, um Lernende direkt mit realen Umweltfragen und -prozessen zu verknüpfen.

Why is the resource useful for VET actors? (in English)

This resource is useful for VET actors because it provides a practical example of outdoor experiential learning that can be integrated into vocational programmes in fields such as environmental management, biology, landscape maintenance and sustainability education. Working in a green environment helps build not only subject-specific knowledge about ecosystems, biodiversity and natural resource use but also transversal skills like problem solving, teamwork and responsibility. The project shows how learning settings outside of traditional classrooms can be used to connect learners directly with real environmental issues and processes.
