Die Susanna-Eger-Schule, Berufsfachschule für Gastronomie und Hotellerie in Leipzig, ist auf dem besten Weg, Nachhaltigkeit ganzheitlich in ihrer Einrichtung zu verankern. Durch die Berücksichtigung von Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung in den Lehrplänen und deren Verknüpfung mit dem Leben auf dem Schulgelände erleben die Schüler:innen nachhaltiges Denken und nachhaltige Praktiken Schritt für Schritt. Auch durch die Intitiative von Lernenden entwickelt sich die Schule ständig weiter und bezieht dabei die gesamte Schulgemeinschaft mit ein.

Susanna-Eger-Schule, VET-school for Gastronomy and Hospitality situated in Leipzig, Germany, is well on track to anchoring sustainability in their institution holistically. By addressing sustainable development in the school curricula and linking those to life on campus, students experience sustainable thinking and sustainable practices at every step of their educational path. With student-driven initiatives, the school is constantly evolving, while involving and taking on board the whole school community.

Das Video-Portrait der Susanna-Eger Schule zeigt, dass auch mit kleinen Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen, an denen alle mitwirken können, viel erreicht werden kann. Das Video beinhaltet Interviews mit Lehrkräften und Lernenden, zeigt wie konkret auf dem Schulcampus Nachhaltigkeit berücksichtig wird und zeigt auf, wie ein Whole Institution Approach die gesamte Schulgemeinschaft mitnehmen kann.

The video portrait of the school’s sustainable practices shows that small measures can go a long way. As it contains an interview with teachers and students, shows best practices in the school building and premises and gives insight to the rationale behind implementing a Whole Institution Approach to Sustainability, it can inspire VET-schools to get started on their journey to sustainability. The video is in German, but youtube provides subtitles in English and many other languages.
